Banknotes round-up: Egypt debuts polymer note – Central Banking
Egypt: The Central Bank of Egypt inaugurated a new, polymer E£10 ($0.525) banknote on July 5. These are the first polymer currency pieces to circulate in Egypt.
De La Rue, the UK-based printing company, designed the note, which is produced at the central bank’s new printworks on De La Rue ‘Safeguard’ polymer. De La Rue is one of the two major commercial producers of polymer for banknote manufacturing.
The obverse of the note features the Al-Fattah Al-Aleem Mosque, the largest mosque in Egypt
