China’s Big Airbus Order Isn’t an All-Clear for Airline Stocks

Chinese airlines are preparing to take off, though there could still be delays.

Last week, China’s three biggest state-owned airlines agreed to buy nearly 300 planes from Airbus in deals valued at $37 billion before customary discounts are given, their first major order since 2019. Air China, China Eastern Airlines and China Southern Airlines—known as the “Big Three”—will take delivery of these jets starting next year.
