Could Kamala Harris be president more than 8 years, if current president Joe Biden resigns?

According to the 22nd Amendment ( Twenty-Second Amendment )

Section 1

No person shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice, and no person who has held the office of President, or acted as President, for more than two years of a term to which some other person was elected President shall be elected to the office of the President more than once. But this Article shall not apply to any person holding the office of President when this Article was proposed by the Congress, and shall not prevent any person who may be holding the office of President, or acting as President, during the term within which this Article becomes operative from holding the office of President or acting as President during the remainder of such term.

Section 2

This article shall be inoperative unless it shall have been ratified as an amendment to the Constitution by the legislatures of three-fourths of the several States within seven years from the date of its submission to the States by the Congress.

Let’s take a look at possibilities, if President Joe Biden resigns before / after two years

Joe Biden became the 46th president of the United States on January 20, 2021, which marked the start of the four-year term. Biden, completes his two years on January 20, 2023.

There can be two possibilities for vice president Kamala Harris, if Joe Biden steps down / resigns as the president of the United States.

If Joe Biden steps down before January 20, 2023, then vice president Kamala Harris can serve only 1 term = 4 years, if “elected” as President.

BUT

If Joe Biden resigns after January 20, 2023, then vice president Kamala Harris can serve 2 terms = 8 years, if “elected” as President.

Inauguration Day occurs every four years on January 20 (or January 21 ,if January 20 falls on a Sunday) at the U.S. Capitol building in Washington, DC.
