It Was a Lousy Second Quarter—Except for the U.S. Dollar

The first half of the year was lousy for most financial assets—but not the U.S. dollar.

The WSJ Dollar Index, which measures the dollar against a basket of 16 currencies, has increased 8.7% this first half of the year. That puts it on pace for its best first half since 2010, when it gained 8.8%.
