I Plan for Everything. But I Didn’t See Inflation Coming.
After two years of near-constant tumult—emotional, personal and economic—and seemingly endless pandemic planning, I thought 2022 could be the year things turned around.
And at first, it looked like that was exactly what was happening. My girlfriend’s Covid-era pay cut was reversed, so we hoped to loosen the purse strings. After three years at the same job, my hard-won raise kicked in, meaning we could plan for some wedding-season travel and maybe even a luxe vacation. And, most important, after years of saving up for a down payment, we finally felt ready to browse apartments for sale and plan for big life changes.
